German BR44 2-10-0

Three Cylinder

 140 mm Gauge

by

Josef Spiekermann

Josef Spiekermann (of Marsburg-Westheim near Paderborn) has been working on

this 1:10 scale model (140mm gauge) of a BR44, 2-10-0, three cylinder loco,

for over 15 years.

The prototype is in a garden adjacent

to the site of the former Altenbeken Railway Yards and Workshops.

The area is more widely known for the massive Altenbeken Railway Viaduct.

Still in service and 150 years old. See http://www.viadukt-altenbeken.de/

A general view of the railway operations in this town. See viaduct in the distance.

Those with an interest in German steam where loco's still run at high speed (90 miles per hour)
