The Ottawa Valley Live Steamers and Model Engineers

The Ottawa Valley Live Steamers and Model Engineers (OVLSME) is a society of enthusiasts sharing a common interest we call "Model Engineering". Club interests include building and operating model steam locomotives, traction engines, hot air engines, steamboats, stationary engines, clocks, workshop equipment and other related topics. New members are always welcome.

The OVLSME has a permanent model railway track site located at the Heritage Township Museum, Cumberland, Ontario (just east of Ottawa). Here we have approximately two thousand feet of ground level 7.25" and 5" gauge line and an elevated multi-gauge track which includes 3.5", 4.75" and 5" gauges. These tracks are available for members to operate their model locomotives and trains. The club occasionally operates, on a voluntary basis, a portable track at public events.

Meetings are held at the track during the summer months, and monthly from November to April inclusive, at specific member's homes, through the winter.

Our meetings provide an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and information on modeling and workshop topics, and for beginners to the hobby to make new friends and gain experience. We are always happy to help newcomers get started in this most stimulating hobby.

The club publishes a monthly newsletter entitled "THE LINK" to all members.

Membership is open to individuals over 18 years of age on payment of annual dues which are approximately $55.00 including insurance. Junior and Associate memberships are also available.
